She was born in England but has lived on 3 continents and has worked as a nature photographer all over the world. She’s been married 3 times and until her next adventure, she’s living in Windsor, England. AGATHA PENFOLD // 125So, Agatha, you’ve lived in so many different countries. Which is your favourite? There isn’t an easy answer to that! Japan is wonderful in the spring. I’ve taken so many photos of the amazing cherry trees and the historic buildings there. And I lived in Colorado, US, for a few years and the landscape and the colours in the autumn are so beautiful. But my heart is in England. I love the people, they’re so friendly, kind and easy to get on with. But the weather … // How long have you been interested in nature photography? Well, I’ve loved animals and the countryside since I was a child. And when I was 21, I met a man in Japan who gave me a camera and that was the start! We got married a year later in Bali. He was so interesting and we travelled to India for 4 months. I love India. I’ve been there about 20 times! I took my favourite photo there when I was 82. // What are you going to do next? Well, my great-grandson David’s just had a baby girl who I haven’t met yet! So if David can give me a lift, I’ll travel up to Scotland and meet her. And maybe I’ll plan another trip to Bali … We’ll see! // If you’re interested in seeing Agatha’s exhibition, it’s at the ArtNature Gallery in London. Opening night is Friday.
